Good Shepherd Recovery House is an outreach of RPM Ministries Inc. Started in February 2017, this THOR approved residential living facility was the natural extension of years of discipling hundreds of people with hurts, habits and hangups in Celebrate Recovery, in the Cherokee County Jail, and in local churches.
Ronnie Haynes, Ordained Pastor and Executive Director
From the late 90’s, Ronnie has served as a Pastor and a volunteer for many outreaches and group efforts, such as the 2nd ever Give a Kid a Chance program in Cherokee County where he and his family reside. In this program, single parents and children receive the love of Christ along with back to school needs, such as book bags, clothing, school supplies, hair cuts, and dental procedures (Baptist Mobile Unit) for the children, car care for single mothers, and any other assistance needed to lift the overwhelming burdens these single parents and children face.
Ronnie has served in missions around the world such as in Ghana, Africa with Crusades, building churches, medical supplies for the sick, and hope and help in orphanages. He also supports missions and churches started in Romania, and in the poverty stricken hills of Kentucky, brought truck loads of children’s Christmas presents and thousands of pounds of canned goods and food, building a food bank to store the food for the future.
Now, as the Pastor of a non denominational Church called Ministry House, Ronnie has been involved for several years with the Christ Centered 12 step program called Celebrate Recovery (CR). Through CR, he has reached hundreds of people by sharing God’s own love to those with hurts, hang ups and bad habits. They receive not only hand-outs but a hand-up, with hope for a better future and knowledge of their eternal Kingdom Purpose.
Pastor Ronnie has been serving for several years as a volunteer Chaplain at the Cherokee County Detention Center in Canton Georgia. He has seen the need of men and women who have become lost in the system and find themselves over and over again caught in what feels like the hopelessness of a losing cycle, looking to transition back into a sane life with a new hope and future. RPM Ministries offers that hope for those who hunger and need housing and education solutions. Our heart is to practically help homeless and low-income families across north Georgia.
As the Leaders and ordained ministers of RPM Ministries, Ronnie and his wife Penny have yoked up with born again brothers and sisters of Christ to fulfill God’s calling for their life – to reach the lost and disciple them, help heal the broken and oppressed with the love of Christ, and help them transition into a future life blessed through Christ, working for their betterment and establishing strong family values for them and their families as stated in Matt 25:35-40.
In 2017, Ronnie and Penny opened Good Shepherd Recovery House for Men. Pastor Ronnie understands first hand the underlying effects of addiction, as he too suffered a 20 year stint of alcohol and drug abuse. This 12+ month Standard Recovery program is THOR (Transitional Housing for Offender Reentry) approved. Their hope is that this is just the first of many Recovery and Transition Houses to come on the 36 acre property.
As a part of their desire to minister to those in need, the Haynes’ have developed Koinonia Communities, a vision and to house, feed, clothe, train and minister to chronic and imminently homeless low income individuals and families, especially veterans. This vision is a huge task, but both Ronnie and Penny feel that it’s time to step up and make a difference in all of God’s children’s lives.
Having the desire to carry out that same love that Jesus showed us all, Pastor Ronnie and Penny have the desire to fulfill that same need for those who might seem hopeless and caught in the insanity of life issues that discourage and tear at the heart of those who feel totally lost or without anyone to turn to.
